Book yourself into a session

To start playing badminton with Goslings, just turn up to a session (except for on thursdays where a booking is required). Contact details available on the individual sessions dedicated pages.

If you are a beginner, you must attend the Thursday badminton session. Otherwise if you know your play standard, please refer to the individual evenings dedicated pages to help decide which evening is most suitable for you.

Where to go

Once you've booked, turn up at the entrance of the corresponding sports centre at the specified time where a Goslings session coordinator is set up to help get you started. The coordinator will either be at the entrance of the centre or already in the badminton courts.

You will be registered as a visitor the first few times you play and charged the visitor rate. To become eligable for membership, you must have attended 3 club sessions.

If you arrive later, enter the centre into the courts and ask for the Goslings session coordinator.

Visitors must read and understand the badminton club rules prior to attending our sessions.

What do I need to bring?

You should wear suitable sports kit with trainers that have non-marking soles. Badminton rackets are available for hire from the sport centres but it's best if you bring your own. Changing facilities and showers are available free to use at all the sports centres.

Do I need to bring a partner?

No. We operate a pegboard system as described below.

How is play structured? - The pegboard system

Our club only plays doubles games on all the available courts and played in rotation via a pegboard system. You will be assigned a visitor peg when you first sign up at the door.

The player with their peg at the front gets to choose the other 3 players for their game. In the spirit of fair play, on Thursdays, the player is only allowed to select their game from the next 5 consecutive free pegs on the board. This person is also entitled to choose who he/she wishes to partner with. On finishing the game and rejoining the pegboard queue, the winners get their pegs placed ahead of the losing pair.

Do you provide coaching?

We do not provide coaching but we can recommend these third-party coaching services.
